Born and raised in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. Energy Engineer with an emphasis in renewable energy by the Federal University for Latin-American Integration (UNILA) in Foz do Iguazu, Brazil under the supervision of Dr. Walfrido Pippo. MSc. in Mechanical Engineering (Fulbright) and Ph.D. in the same department at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, FL. with Dr. Juan Ordonez as the academic advisor.
My doctoral research focused on the development and characterization of novel quantum materials for energy applications. More specifically, thermoelectric materials for low-temperature applications (e.g. quantum computing and deep-space exploration). Most of my research has been conducted at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory where I currently hold the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Wei Lab under the supervision of Dr. Kaya Wei in collaboration with the Baumbach Research Group. For more details go to the Research section.
I am also very involved with the FSU and Tallahassee community through leadership and outreach. To read more about my extracurricular activities, go to More About Jorge.
